Ravishing Rocks 2007
THE NEW ZAM GEMS COLLECTION OF COCKTAIL RINGS
Cocktail rings are the rage this season and the fashion-conscious worldwide are sporting what has become known as "Ravishing Rocks" on their fingers. Keeping in line with international fashion trends, Zam Gems has produced a range of cocktail rings using their design capabilities to combine brilliant colours and styles in varied settings.
The popularity of the "Cocktail Ring" grew during the 1940s and 1950s when cocktail parties were popular and even today wearing a cocktail ring with a huge diamond or other large precious and semi precious stone makes a statement for the wearer. Generally worn at formal and "dress up" occasions such as parties, theatre productions, movie premieres and awards ceremonies, it boldly says that the wearer is a self-confident and self-assured personality who is always in style. "The cocktail ring is meant to be a large and dramatic ring, which flaunts the fact that the wearer knows how to live in style," says Ahsan Refai, Managing Director of Zam Gems. He explains "This trend continues today with most cocktails rings having a large central stone either set on its own or more popularly surrounded by smaller stones in contrasting colours. The general rule is the bigger the stone, the better as the cocktail ring is supposed to catch and dazzle the eye."
Refai says it is also supposed to be opulent and overdone as it is an attention-getter and is generally worn on any finger excepting the ring finger of the left hand which represents that one is married or engaged. The right hand fingers are often chosen although the ring may be worn on the index finger of either hand. One of the most attractive cocktails rings created by Zam Gems is a one-of-a-kind 39 carat Ruby Cabochon with 5.26 carats of diamonds set in 18 carat white and yellow gold. Yet another has a beautiful green Tourmaline in a simple yet attractive 18 ct. yellow gold setting while a fine, deep golden Citrine is set in an interesting 18 ct. yellow gold frame. "If you really want to attract attention, wear a gorgeous Lemon Quartz with diamonds in 18 carat white gold," advises Refai. Rose gold, yellow gold, white gold and platinum are popular settings. Excellent examples of how these settings might be used to perfection, bringing out the lustre of the stores used could be seen at Zam Gems stores. For instance, a very pretty pinkish Rubellite Cabochon with diamonds and pink sapphires is set in 18 carat rose gold, a lovely 8.50 carat Hessonite Garnet hugged by Diamond flowers is set in 18 carat yellow gold while a round Emerald Cabochon with Diamonds and Blue Sapphires is set in 18 carat white gold.
"Whatever your choice of colours might be, our cocktail rings are created to ensure the wearer dazzles and impresses with her sense of perfect style this festive season," says Refai.
