To match the impeccable quality and dazzling glamour of our merchandise, ZAM GEMS display and sell in luxurious showrooms, in prestigious locations – at shopping arcades of some of Colombo’s best five star hotels. In Kandy, the ZAM complex includes a gem laboratory, lapidary, workshop and magnificent showroom, a top attraction for tourists and local patrons. Our main showroom and headquarters , located in central Colombo, are equipped with all facilities for jewellery manufacturing supported by a a creative designer team – a big draw for both foreign and local gem & jewellery enthusiasts.
Not ready to rest on our laurels ,the ZAM operation was soon franchised out to key jewellery markets in the world and between 1996 and 2001, ZAM GEMS opened well-patronized outlets in upmarket offshore locations – Ueno Jewellery Centre in Tokyo, Renaissance Hotel , Times Square and the Duty Free at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia and the Hilton Resort in Maldives.
It is not a surprise that the ZAM name is known for its quality as all gems and jewellery sold are laboratory tested, subjected to stringent quality controls and backed by international warranty . High-value gemstones are certified by “Guebelin Gem Lab” Switzerland, the premier world authority on gems. The major export buyers are Japan, South Korea, U.S.A., Germany and France.
The second wave of progress is now spearheaded by the son, Ashan Refai and it is no surprise that the transition from father to son has stood the business in good stead as the ZAM name continues to grow on the two corner stones of trust and honor. ZAM GEMS participates in leading gem and jewellery events world-wide and keeps updated on latest trends, designs and developments with a dynamic international sales team led by Ahsan Refai who is also the Managing Director of the company.
ZAM GEMS is the source for spectacular jewels such as the stunning 946-carat aquamarine that was sold for US$ 500,000 , a 97 carat Orange Sapphire , an exquisite 34 carat Blue Sapphire and a 43 carat Alexandrite, worth more than 1 Million US$. Our customers’ include VIPs, Presidents, Prime Ministers , Ministers and Dignitaries from around the world.
